Montauk Sportfishing Report 10/10/16

The striped bass fishing is still hanging on, but just by a thread, with the best of it over at Block Island.

The falsies are scarce west of the Inlet and around the Point, but Saturday it looked like some of the flyguys found them down on the south side.

The bottom fishing is moving east. There are still some seabass and porgies around the Point, but it is much better over at Block Island and there are some cod being taken as well. It will just keep getting better from now through the end of the year. And, blackfish season opened this week.

The Montauk Classic was held a week ago with the following results;
Striped Bass
Joe Mollica – 27 lbs
Larry Welcome -23 lbs
Mike Coppola – 20.5 lbs
Bluefish
Russell Renner – 13.25 lbs
Terry Marburger 13 lbs
Mike Larsen – 11 lbs

Next weekend Paulies is holding its surf contest and on Sunday Star Island has their annual striped bass tournament.
