Thats an incredible ctach aboard the Bunny Clark, I believe the previous best jig caught tuna on the boat was 207 lbs.
Here are the details I know. Fish was caught with an eight foot Merv rod from surfland using a Baha special reel with 65 lb spectra and 50 lb jinkai leader I believe. Jig was a plain 16 oz Lav jig with chartruese tube. The fish was to the boat in 26 minutes after hich it screwed to the bottom and died. Toatal fight time was 31 minutes and kudos to the angler the Capt ( Ian) and the mate (Jared). I don't know the anglers name but he did a hell of a job getting that thing back to the boat on a day trip.
Good morning Bob.......any jigged bluefin over 125lbs landed is a very note worthy catch, but a fish over 300lbs, this one being 365lbs, well it is truly an unforgettable achievement especially in bringing it to the boat in that amount of time. A Big Congrats to Captain Ian and Jared the mate of the f/v BUNNY CLARK in Maine.
Yes it is surprising catch, but for years, the BUNNY CLARK has been at the top when it comes it comes to putting the biggest fish you can catch in the GOM, in the boat. Captain Tim must have a big smile on his face......................
