Little Sister Charters off to Westport, Ma.!

Postby LittleSister1 » Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:20 am

"Little Sister" is now out of the water getting some repiars. I plan on launching on Monday (08/13/12) in Westport, Ma. where I'll be for the rest of the year.
My trips will be targeting stripers, blues, sea bass and fluke with the idea that we will try to limit out on as many things as possible-sounds like a fun challenge!
The way I like to fish there is called "squidding" (jigging with the reel, not the rod). I do that because it allows for catching all the mentioned species at the same time and where we will be fishing it is quite possible to get all on the same drift. Of course there is always live eel drifting at night for "bigger bass"..........
I hope to see you there - Call for details!

08/15/12:
The 1st Westport trip of the year was this morning and we started off well. At first my guys were pounding large sea bass, not giants but several over 3 pounds (19-20 inches) mixed in with the 15-18 inch specimens. There were a few blues there too and we ended up with 4 nice stripers too, even though the trip was cut a little short by the lightening storm that "lit us up" for an early departure to sheltered water.
All the fish responded well to jigs and the bass also took clams. We tried to live line a scup while we were getting the sea bass well and a large blue nailed it quickly and bit off the hook. I still won't put on wire!
Thursday we may try to put a few fluke in the boat as well. They were absent from the sea bass spots today..........JC
08/16/12: Almost a carbon copy of yesterday except the sea bass were on such a tear that the guys "whined" when I mentioned moving to a spot for fluke. We did get one (nice one) on a sea bass jig though. On my Saturday trip I'm going to make it a point to START with fluke........JC
