Good morning everyone and I want to make this a very quick reply since it is a big story to tell on and about the longest YANKEE CAPTS trip out of Gloucester in the almost 4 decades this boat has been fishing.
Bob K gave a great summation.
Captain Greg did some job keeping everyone in the game, and I can tell you, three people were needed to lift our cooler of fillets into the truck...and we kept a bare handful of cusk and pollock as some of the guys on the trip will tell you.
This trip had everything a fishermen could ask for, with the excitement, laughing and just overall great personalities that came on this trip. It was also a great learning experience for myself, and many of these points will be brought up in the article.
Matt and Gino were like the energizer bunny, and again to point out on the amount of fish caught, they were cutting fish from just after 6 in the evening till way after midnight and more. They were the best of the best mates you could ever ask for, and I hope to see Gino on these trips in the future.
The excitement ranged from some of the hottest big game fishing (which I will go into detail in the story), to ten foot seas and the YC pulpit being buried a few times!!!! Yes we had some interesting UNPREDICTED winds, but in all fairness, no rain which we did predict on this trip. The Yankee Capts sat like a duck, and even Big Bobby commented about that (and he says anything that comes to his mind).
Guys all I can tell you right now, and please, save the calls, PMs and emails asking for the details since I have a load on the plate, but it was a trip that even the JIg Maker in the Bay was satisfied with (HELLO-HELLO....listen to me carefully)! I have a load of pics to go over, inside stories and tips to tell and just good amount of info to go through.
Again Captain Greg....I cannot give more kudos for where he brought us on this trip and the areas fished.
I will close here that a number of fishermen on this trip have asked about reserving a spot for next years Memorial and Labor Day trips with Captain Greg, and we already have discussed details that will be talked about and tweaked in the months to come.
This trip was something I doubt ANYONE on board will forget for what we caught, experienced and most of all shared with each other.
