You guessed it: Halfway Ledge.
Over the years in route to Pulley Ridge, it became apparent that we were passing over some extremely productive fishing areas. With eyes always on the fish-finder, we extensively studied a particular stretch of broken bottom approximately 25 miles beyond the Dry Tortugas: Halfway Ledge.
A few exploratory drops along this ridge unveiled an excellent showing of black and scamp grouper, large yellow-eye and mutton snapper. The fish totes don't lie and this spot jumped quickly from a favorite quick stop to a permanent scheduled destination for the Yankee Capts.
