4-10-11 Cod

We fished today south of jones and had nonstop action on the two drops we made. We kept 30 fish with the majority going 10-15lbs with twice as many throwbacks.

4-20-11 Inshore Wreck Fishing

Took advantage of the light winds yesterday and hit some of the local pieces in 75-125' to the west. The day started off good with some cod and a pollack coming up on the first drop. After that it was work to put together dinner. We totaled 8 drops for the day and managed seven keeper tog (with tons of shorts), two keeper cod and a pollack for four anglers. Water was very dirty to the west from the weekends heave. Odds are bottom was quite churned up still.

4-25-11 Tog

Got out yesterday with a six man crew and managed to limit the boat on blackfish to 9.25 pounds. Had to make a few moves to find them but when we did it was a bail job for an hour and a half. There were alot of shorts mixed in but green crabs were the ticket for the larger fish.

5-7-11 Cod

Made a run deep today looking for some larger cod. Turned out we overran the fish by about thirty miles. Hit one drop on the way back and picked up 50 keepers and around 30 shorts.

5-14-11 Cod

Set sail in search of ling today despite the slowdown in the fishing that was seen on friday. We started off in a few drops in the 80' range and saw a steady pick of short cod with not a single ling bite. Based on what we heard from some other boats on the ling grounds I decided to work south in search of cod. We made a total of six drops and totaled 40 keepers and well over a hundred shorts. Most of the larger fish fell to jigs while anchored on the last wreck. What a welcome suprise to see the cod back in numbers again locally. I will post pics once I recieve them from my customer.

5-21 bass and 5-22 cod

We had Bob Chiapuzzi and friends out yesterday for a half day bass trip. We started the ebb at the west bar of Jones and had only a dozen blues. We moved to the Meadowbrook for the second half of the tide and had six bass to 20lbs before the grass shut down the fishing.

After last weeks sucessful cod trip, we set out again on another open trip today in search of cod. We made our way to the 100-140' depths. At the end of the day we finished the day with 29 keepers with well over 100 shorts and a dozen and a half ling.

6/11 shark

Yesterday we had Josh and friends out for a day of sharking. We took off to the south of the inlet and set up amongst a fleet of draggers with some decent bird life in 160'. Overall for the day we finished up with 7 blue sharks and plenty of bluefish. Spoke with a couple of boats in the area on the radio, and had the same results.
