Well It is time to let the 'cat' out of the bag.....over the last week there has been a notable run of schoolie sized codfish making its way inshore west of Fire Island, most notably on the Jones and Rockaway area wrecks and reefs.
Yes....I did say reefs, and the numbers of fish caught are a contstant reminder to us that codfish are starting to make a come back in this area, and that a few of the local Pt. Lookout and Sheepshead Bay party boats have had a nice short ride and caught some codfish in site of the east beach in this area.
Now this is not saying that it is lock and load fishing, but it seems every other day, a few cod up to 12 lbs are around to make things interesting for those who want to jump on any of the west end party and charter boats going out at this time of the year.
