Inspired by captjoekingcod and whattacatch

After hearing about recent successes with the codfish, I decided to take the day off and went cod fishing. Left at 0400 and steamed NE. Set up and it was game on. All market fish but we ended up with 50+ cod fish and about as many large ling to 3+lbs. maybe 20+ throwbacks as well. Very little trash, a handful of congos. Added a couple of seabass and a few taug . 3 drops, only needed 2 but was curious. Nice dumpy, wet ride home in a stiff south wind.

Gotta shake your head when you realize that its August and the best show in town right now is codfish and ling.

Nice job Frank!!
50+....thats pretty darn good! I bet it was a little sloppy, Wind was puffing pretty good in the afternoon. It's truly amazing this little run of Cod we're having. I'm usually pounding away at the C-bass right now....but I'm finding it hard to get the Cod off my brain. We're going to give it another go this Saturday.
Great Job!!

Great Job Frank... It is truely amazing the Cod Fishing we are having this year.We have caught Cod from February to July. I hope this is an indication of what our winter fishing will be like. Every trip we do, the codding just gets better.

Nice. Who ever thought the day would come where you could catch them like that in the middle of the summer, or at all for that matter? A very optomistic sign for sure.

That is a great sign!! I was fishing on Cholera last week in 75ft of water bouncing a bucktail and caught 2 - 18" cod. Hope it bodes well for this winter!!!

Its crazy, my last 2 trips have produced 60+ cod, loads of big ling, a few blackbacks, blackfish and a keeper pollock. It is July right? All in a t shirt. Put it to you this way, we a had a small mako eating floater bergals and chasing hooked cod yesterday. Just seems weird. I cant wait for next spring, it should be sick fishing.

Whats impressed me most is the amount of sea flounder that Ive seen and heard of being caught!

Now lets hope that increased regs dont prevent us from taking advantage of this new found bounty! :x
