Captain Des started fishing at a very young age. Des grew up a stones throw from Long Island Sound and worked a mate and then a captain on the party boats in Port Jefferson for over 10 years. Des received his BA from Fordham University in liberal arts and Music. From 1999 thru 2002 Des worked for the Viking Fleet where he ran offshore cod trips to Georges Banks, offshore wreck trips as well as local trips for Striped Bass, Fluke, and Block Island trips for sea bass and porgies.. This was a great learning experience for Des and as Paul and Steven Forsberg would say, it is where he got his fishing degree from the “Viking College of Fishing Knowledge!”

In 2002 he purchased his first boat which he ran out of Mt Sinai Harbor and eventually worked his way up to his current 60 foot Celtic Quest, which sails daily out of Port Jefferson Harbor. Des has a loyal following that views him both as a friend and the Celtic Quest as a fishing boat of choice. Des is a top producer of Blackfish and Fluke in Long Island Sound and is the type of person that anyone would be happy to call their friend.
