Capt Rich from the Viking Starship reports that cod fishing was FANTASTIC today. It started with the first 3 drops dead, but on the fourth drop we whacked 'em, packed 'em and stacked 'em for about an hour. The weather got a little nicer so we pulled the anchor and stared drifting. We immediately saw incredible action which lasted for the rest of the day. First place pool winner was William Clarke from Kingston NY with a cod weighing in at just over 20lbs. Basrija Djekovic from Long Island City won second place with an 18 pounder. It ended up being an excellent day of cod fishing! Stay tuned for Capt Anthony's report from the Viking Star.

Capt Anthony reports we were the first boat out and the last to return with our limit of beautiful, green, codfish. There was absolutely no night bite and conditions were not what NOAA called for. Mid-morning the fish started feeding and the bailjob began. Drift after drift produced bigger and bigger fish as well. Steve Bento and Pete Ferguson were catching nonstop. Mike Mirando from Montauk took the pool with a 15 pounder and Brian Mastaglia took the second place in the pool with a 14.2lbs cod. Most of the cod were in the 6lbs-9lbs range.
