Headed out to the fluke grounds today to be met by a unforecasted easterly wind to go against our outgoing tide which dominated the day. Oh well, that's fluking. Started making drifts in the area that's been successful lately and had great short action with a keeper here, and another one there, but not what we were hoping for.
We would catch a couple keepers on one drift and none on the next, another couple keepers, two drifts with no keepers, basically a grind to say the least. Stuck with it all day, tweaking a little here and a little there hoping that the bigger fish would bite better like they have been.
Then around 1:30 the keepers started to bite better and helped us pull off a pretty good day, no bail job but solid fishing. Had about 15 keepers in the last 4 drifts to put us around 35 keepers for the trip. Pool fish was around 5lbs with a bunch of close second place finishes.
Clamso was high hook with 3 keepers, tied with Rich who was the pool winner. Joe Spro finished the day with 2 beauties to go with over 40 shorts on the day. Crabman had 1 keeper but probably had over 50 shorts by days end. Most anglers probably had 40 or 50 shorts on the day.
