Out again on the Monday marathon. Day started with some very slow sea bassing, not many keepers or shorts. A move out deeper brought some nice ling and a good shot of cod. Pool winner was an 8lb cod. I had 4 small keeper cod and 15 ling. If it wasn't for the one big cod, some of the big ling would have taken the 22" and 23" cod for the pool. I saw some big throwback flounder and some jumbo bergalls. I figure around 20 keeper cod for the same amount of fares. I know the 2 guys next to me had 36 ling and a keeper cod. 3 12 yos came out and had 2 keeper cod, a porgy and 35 ling.

P.S. I wish the mom had stayed rather than dropping the boys off because she was fine. When she said I can't go fishing because I will rip my skirt, I was thinking, I don't have a problem with that.

Good report.....I heard that the fishing was better for cod in that area.

Next day we stayed inshore. On a spot right off the beach I had 2 double headers of big triggers on 12lb gear. We didn't stay long as fares were not willing to fish light and cast. Rest of the day I had a nice NJ keeper 19" fluke and only 4 keeper sea bass, but they were all 17"-20". Some had up to 19 keeper sea bass but I had the day when 90% of my fish were shorts and any keepers I had were jumbos. Still I had the fish I wanted for dinner, fluke sashimi with ponzu followed by triggerfish meuniere. Triggers are my favorite eating local fish.
